Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Nurse Extern, you will play a crucial role within the nursing team, gaining practical experience while exploring the full range of responsibilities associated with the Registered Nurse position. You will assist in delivering safe and compassionate care that enhances patients' lives, while also developing the skills and confidence necessary for more advanced duties as you progress through your nursing education.

Your responsibilities will encompass:

• Providing essential patient care by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene.
• Carrying out nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter management, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and enhance your competencies.
• Accurately documenting care and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care.
• Assisting patients and their families in understanding care plans and providing guidance for health and recovery.
• Maintaining clean and safe patient areas by adhering to infection prevention protocols, managing equipment, and keeping an organized environment.
• Promoting your personal growth and improving patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas for enhancement, and collaborating with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your career path.

Qualifications Required:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
• Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in NC.
• Enrollment in an RN program, either pursuing an Associate or Bachelor's Degree.
