Job Description
The Division of Neurosurgery at Childrens Mercy Kansas City is seeking an experienced, fellowship-trained, board-certified pediatric neurosurgeon to join our highly collaborative and well-established team.
\nPosition Highlights:
\nJoin a growing team of four pediatric neurosurgeons supported by a robust team of advanced practice providers. State-of-the-art operating rooms, equipped with:
\n- \n
- BrainLab & Stealth guidance systems \n
- Zeiss microscope & OrbEye exoscope \n
- Minop Endoscopes \n
- ROSA robotic surgical assistant \n
- O-arm intraoperative imaging \n
- Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT) \n
- On-site endovascular neurosurgery and off-site Gamma Knife radiosurgery \n
Diverse and high-acuity case mix, covering the full breadth of pediatric neurosurgery, with an annual surgical volume exceeding 800 cases, including:
\n- \n
- Instrumented spine surgery \n
- Functional neurosurgery (DBS & epilepsy surgery) \n
- Spasticity management \n
- Revascularization for moyamoya disease \n
- Craniofacial and complex skull base surgery \n
- Fetal closure of myelomeningocele \n
Call & Clinical Support:
\n- \n
- 1:5 call schedule with primary call fully covered by neurosurgery residents \n
Academic & Leadership Opportunities:
\n- \n
- Candidates should demonstrate a track record of clinical excellence, research, education, and leadership. \n
- Interest in programmatic development with internal leadership opportunities expected. \n
- Interest in directorship and programmatic development of a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship program is preferred. \n
- Dedicated, protected research time may be available through the Childrens Mercy Research Institute (CMRI) for candidates with an established research portfolio. \n
- Faculty appointments through the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine and University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) available, with opportunities for mentorship and teaching. \n
- Childrens Mercy serves as the pediatric neurosurgery training site for the KUMC neurosurgery residency program. \n
Candidate Requirements:
\n- \n
- Fellowship-trained, board-certified pediatric neurosurgeon \n
- Minimum of several years of post-fellowship experience (Graduating fellows will not be considered at this time) \n
- Commitment to excellence in clinical care, research, education, and leadership \n
- Interest in directorship and programmatic development of a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship program \n
