- The Surgical Service of the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center is recruiting for a staff Anesthesiologist. \n
- Duties include but are not limited to: \n
- Administration of general anesthesia (inhalation and intravenous), including invasive monitoring. \n
- Administration of regional anesthesia, including spinal, epidural, and peripheral nerve blocks. \n
- Placement of arterial catheters and interpretation of arterial pressures and wave forms. \n
- Placement of pulmonary artery catheters and interpretation of pressures/wave forms \n
- Management of ventilator-dependent patients and one lung ventilation. \n
- Supervision of CRNA staff, physician residents, and medical students in the comprehensive medical management of patient care. \n
- Expertise in the following anesthesia core requirements: assessing, consulting, and preparing patients for anesthesia; rendering patients insensible to pain during surgical, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. \n
- Monitoring and restoring homeostasis in perioperative and critically ill patients, diagnosing and treating painful syndromes. \n
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a diverse group of professional staff and management officials. \n
- Care for Veterans and Earn a Debt-Free Degree (va.gov) \n
- Sign-on bonus authorized \n
- Office Hours: 8 - 4:30 pm, Monday -Friday \n
- A four 10-hour shift schedule is forthcoming \n
- Call coverage: averages 5 nights/mo \n
