The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Anesthesiologist to join our collegial team serving CVPH in Plattsburgh, NY. Position Highlights

  • Primary Site: CVPH a 300-bed hospital with 9 ORs and an Ambulatory Surgery Center.
  • \n
  • Care Model: Majority 1:1 model, with charge anesthesiologist occasionally supervising 2:1.
  • \n
  • Team Composition:\n
      \n
    • 5 full-time anesthesiologists
    • \n
    • 2 CRNAs
    • \n
    • Supported by 2 full-time locum CRNAs and 25 rotating locum anesthesiologists
    • \n
  • \n

Call Structure

    \n
  • Equitably shared among anesthesiologists
  • \n
  • Typically includes one 24-hour first-call and one second-call per week
  • \n
  • Weekend call varies; second-call providers must be within a 30-minute radius
  • \n
  • Second-call providers generally released by 1 PM next day
  • \n
  • Home call permitted with a 15-minute response time
  • \n
  • Overnight responsibilities include epidurals, OB, and general surgery emergencies (no neurosurgery)
  • \n

  • Flexible Scheduling: Ability to tailor call volume to match your lifestyle

  • Shifts: 8-hour first shifts and 6-hour post-second shifts, plus ~30 additional shifts annually

  • AHMC Coverage: Currently limited to vacation coverage only, with plans to reduce further
  • \n
  • Time Off: Physicians working 1.0 FTE accrue 25 days annually.

  • Case Mix: No open-heart, intracranial neurosurgery, or intensive pediatric cases

  • Trauma Level: CVPH is a Level III Trauma Center; higher-acuity cases are transferred

  • Teaching: Opportunities to work with family medicine and emergency medicine residents

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $489,481 plus a $25,000$50,000 sign-on bonus
  • \n
  • Student loan repayment: $60K for qualified loans
  • \n
  • Flexible scheduling: Options to adjust call volume based on lifestyle preferences

  • Call pay: Additional compensation for extended hours and call coverage
  • \n
  • Relocation assistance: $10k in Relocation assistance
