Job Summary

The Histologist III provides high quality products to Pathology to aid in diagnosis. Performs routine tasks and a menu of more advanced tests, such as Immunohistochemistry (including prognostic markers), DIF, Enzyme Histochemistry, Special Stains and Nerve Teasing in a fast paced, high volume laboratory. Values quality patient care, a positive work environment and teamwork.

- Performs processing, embedding & microtomy of routine specimens efficiently with highest quality.
\n - Performs grossing of specific specimen types if qualified by CLIA regulation.
\n - Performs staining; routine & special stains efficiently with highest quality.
\n - Performs immunohistochemistry efficiently with highest quality.
\n - Operates and maintains processing and staining equipment.
\n - Ensures accurate results by following established quality control practices.
\n - Identifies when a QC problem exists and notifies appropriate technical staff.
\n - Trains in routine areas; processing, embedding, microtomy & staining.
\n - Performs other duties as required or assigned.
