At Prosper-Tech Machine & Tool, Setup CNC Machinists play a critical role in preparing and running precision machining jobs efficiently and consistently. This position supports high-mix, small-batch production where setup quality, process control, and attention to detail directly impact delivery and performance.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

\n

In this role, you will:

\n

\n
• Set up and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes
\n
• Pick up work offsets and tool offsets
\n
• Build cutting tool assemblies from setup sheets
\n
• Set up repeat jobs and perform first-piece inspections
\n
• Make tool changes and machine adjustments as needed
\n
• Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring tools
\n
• Troubleshoot machining issues and maintain part quality
\n
• Follow work instructions and contribute to process improvements
\n
• Deburr and clean finished parts as necessary
\n
• Work within ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality systems
\n

\n

Higher-level machinists may also support programming, process development, and tool life optimization.

• Machines: Haas CNC Mills, Brother CNC Mills, CNC Lathes

• Controls: Fanuc
\n
• Programming Exposure: Setup-level editing and process support
\n
• Inspection Tools: Micrometers, height gauges, calipers, indicators
\n

What We’re Looking ForRequired:

\n

\n
• 4–6+ years of CNC machining/setup experience preferred
\n
• Experience setting up CNC mills and/or lathes
\n
• Ability to independently set up repeat jobs
\n
• Experience performing first-piece inspections
\n
• Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances/GD&T
\n
• Comfortable making tool and work offsets
\n
• Strong understanding of tooling and setup processes
\n
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and team-focused
\n

\n

Preferred (Not Required):

\n

\n
• Experience with Haas, Brother, or Fanuc-controlled machines
\n
• Multi-axis machining exposure
\n
• Programming experience (3-axis mill or 2D lathe)
\n
• Aerospace or medical machining background
\n
• Experience improving setup documentation or tooling strategies
\n
