Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Associates of South Texas (Allergy SA), a leading Allergy and Asthma practice in San Antonio and an affiliate of SENTA Partners, is dedicated to serving the community of greater San Antonio.
\nAllergy SA is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and team-oriented Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) to join our growing allergy and immunology practice as maternity leave coverage (December and through March). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced provideror a motivated provider looking to expand their allergy knowledge, to become part of a collaborative, patient-centered team. While this position is initially intended as temporary coverage, there is strong potential for a permanent full-time position for the right candidate based on practice needs and performance.
\nPosition Summary
\nThe Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care within our Allergy and Immunology clinics. This position provides comprehensive support in case management, follow-up care, and patient communication. Working under moderate supervision, the APP evaluates and manages patients with upper respiratory, allergy, asthma, and dermatologic conditions while collaborating closely with clinic physicians in complex cases to ensure optimal outcomes.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including interval histories and assessments for follow-up visits. \n
- Perform focused physical examinations of the head, neck, ears, nose, throat, chest, and skin as clinically appropriate. \n
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring all care is documented clearly and communicated effectively with patients. \n
- Provide clinical assessments and formulate differential diagnoses related to allergy and asthma conditions. \n
- Prescribe medications within prescriptive authority, including antihistamines, decongestants, mucolytics, bronchodilators, inhaled and oral steroids, and antibiotics. \n
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests, radiology, CT scans, and audiograms. \n
- Assist in managing and treating reactions related to immunotherapy, seeking physician consultation for cases of greater severity. \n
- Collaborate with supervising physicians for consultation in complex or difficult cases, whether in person or by phone. \n
- Participate in after-hours call coverage from home with physician backup available as needed. \n

Qualifications
\n- \n
- Current, unrestricted licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) in the state of practice. \n
- Certification through an accredited NP or PA program. \n
- Previous experience in a clinical or outpatient setting, preferably in Allergy. \n
- Strong clinical skills, with a focus on patient safety and quality care. \n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. \n
- Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). \n
- APP (NP or PA) must be able to provide patient care for all age demographics. \n
- Eligible for hospital privileges. \n
