Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Capital Railroad Contracting Inc. is a rapidly growing Railroad Bridge, Track, and Maintenance Contractor based in Columbia, MO. We construct railroad bridges, new industry tracks and perform many maintenance-of-way tasks for Class 1 and industry clients. We are accepting applications and resumes for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to work in our Columbia, MO shop. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for, but not limited to repairing, rebuilding, maintaining all equipment within the company.

Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:

· Perform engine overhauls

· Determine overall condition of machines through inspections

· Diagnose issues with heavy equipment and repair to working order

· Ability to read and comprehend electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints

· Utilize operators and parts & maintenance manuals to perform preventive maintenance

· Ability to weld, grind, and torch

· Ability to operate heavy equipment

· Possess and maintain a class E driver’s license (CDL a plus)

· Perform Hi-rail and DOT inspections

· Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work

· Keep a clean and safe work area and follow all safety rules

· Some travel required within Midwest Region

The ideal candidate would possess:

· Be self-motivated and able to learn on the go

· Willingness to grow within the company

· 5 + years experience as a mechanic (2+ requiered 5+ preferred)

· Ability to navigate and use fleet tracking system

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Exceptional detail-oriented, multitasking, and organizational skills

· Able to work effectively with minimal supervision

· Physically able to move objects and service-related tools that may weigh up to 75 pounds

· Knowledge of railroad type equipment is a plus
