Position Overview:

Become a part of our Cardiac and Vascular team for a fulfilling career in these specialized fields. We are an expanding team eager to introduce you to our dynamic specialty, which includes procedures such as Coronary Bypass Graft surgery, valve replacements, heart transplants, and both open and endovascular surgeries.

Our supportive team comprises experienced preceptors and robust educational resources.

Your role will involve providing assistance and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. You will ensure that surgical equipment and supplies are properly arranged and available in the operating room for each procedure; assist the surgeon during operations as permitted by professional and legal standards; and help with the cleaning of the operating room post-surgery, ensuring the correct routing of equipment and used materials. You will report directly to the Manager.


Qualifications
  • Completion of a surgical technologist program.
  • Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) is required or must be obtained within one year of employment.
  • Current CPR and BLS certification, along with participation in annual Validation Day, is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with various surgical procedures, with the ability to anticipate the surgeon's needs and recognize potential challenges.
  • Understanding of the names and functions of surgical equipment and instruments is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining sterile field policies and regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic patient care and safety principles.
  • Application of aseptic techniques to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Awareness of operating room emergency situations.
  • Your primary role will be as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) in one of our seven cardiac or vascular operating rooms, which handle an average of 30 open-heart cases weekly.

This skilled operating room team specializes in Cardiac and Vascular procedures. Enhance your skills by joining this established and proficient team in a fast-paced, high-volume, and high-acuity specialty area. You will engage in hybrid endovascular procedures, open vascular cases, and a busy Open Heart program, including transplants and heart failure surgeries.

  • On-call duties are required for covering weeknights and both weekend days and nights after the orientation period.
  • Collaborate as a team member in the operating room alongside the surgical team to provide patient-centered care for high-acuity patients.
  • Post-orientation, there may be opportunities for flexible scheduling, including evening or weekend-only shifts for suitable candidates.
