Job Description
Conway Medical Center (CMC) is seeking a dedicated Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) Laborist to join our growing obstetric team. This 100% inpatient role focuses exclusively on labor and delivery care with no outpatient clinic responsibilities. CNMs in this program work collaboratively with OB/GYN physicians to provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based care to a diverse patient population.

As a CNM Laborist at CMC, you will:

- Provide full inpatient obstetric care, including triage, labor management, vaginal deliveries, and postpartum care \n
- Participate in obstetric emergencies in collaboration with OB/GYNs \n
- Assist with C-sections as first assist when needed \n
- Support a family-centered birthing environment while ensuring patient safety \n
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary care team to maintain high standards of clinical excellence \n
SCHEDULE:
\n- \n
- Rotating 12- or 24-hour shifts with night, weekend, and holiday coverage. \n
- 24/7 coverage shared among CNMs and OB/GYN physicians to ensure continuous care. \n
- No outpatient clinic responsibilities. \n
SUPPORT & RESOURCES:

- Collaborative practice model with OB/GYN physicians, anesthesiologists, and pediatricians. \n
- 7 OBGYN physicians, 2 CNM, 1 WHNP \n
- Dedicated labor and delivery nurses, anesthesia team, and surgical support for C-sections. \n
- Cerner EMR with Dragon dictation and Ambient AI \n
- On-unit ultrasound and fetal monitoring \n
- Dedicated C-section operating rooms staffed for rapid response \n
LABOR & DELIVERY ENVIRONMENT:

- CMC manages high risk pregnancies 32 weeks and beyond \n
- Level II nursery on site with in-house pediatric support \n
- L&D, postpartum, nursery, and C-section operating rooms are all located on the same floor \n
- L&D is located across the hall from postpartum care \n
- High risk transfers requiring advanced neonatal support are transferred to McLeod Level III NICU (1-2 hours by ground) or MUSC Level IV NICU (45 minutes by helicopter) using established protocols \n
PATIENT DEMOGRAPHICS & VOLUME:
\n- \n
- Care for a diverse population, including Spanish-speaking patients, adolescents, and adults. \n
- Typical census: 8-12 deliveries per day \n
- Approximately 2,000 annual deliveries \n
- \n \n \nIncreasing demand driven by population growth in Horry County and surrounding areas \n
REQUIREMENTS:
\n- \n
- Board-certified Certified Nurse Midwife \n
- Active South Carolina CNM license (or eligibility) \n
- Experience in labor and delivery settings \n
- Skilled in managing spontaneous vaginal births and L&D triage \n
- Experience assisting in C-sections preferred \n
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP required \n
