Job Overview and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role involves delivering professional nursing care to patients by employing the nursing process. Collaboration with other healthcare team members, including physicians, is essential to ensure high-quality health care.

Qualifications Required:
  • EDUCATION:

    Required: An Associate Degree, Diploma in Nursing, or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

  • LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

    Required: A current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a compact state, along with current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

  • EXPERIENCE:

    Preferred: Certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) within two years of working in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.

  • SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

    Preferred: Proficiency in reading and writing Basic English to effectively communicate physician orders. Understanding of body substance isolation practices. Ability to utilize the FIM instrument for assessing patient independence throughout rehabilitation. Strong listening and empathetic skills to address the needs of patients, families, and partners. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

  • COMPETENCIES:

    Completion of unit-specific orientation within the first 120 days in the Rehabilitation Unit. Effective use of the FIM instrument for patient assessments upon admission and throughout their rehabilitation journey. Accurate documentation in all areas of rehabilitation nursing in compliance with Medicare standards. Capability to perform both basic and advanced patient transfers within the rehabilitation unit.
