\nJob Summary
\nGraduate of an accredited Certified Surgical Tech Program. Responsible for providing direct care to patients including coordinating their surgical procedures, contacting insurance companies for approvals and ensuring that appropriate contacts are made to complete the process. Practices to the fullest extent of their license in accordance with organizational policies. Under the direction of the Physicians, Nurse Practitioner and Practice Manager, functions as a member of the team in implementing the established plan of care. Provides care specific to ages and developmental needs of all patients.

\nEssential Responsibilities
\nJob Specific:
\nVascular Surgery Outpatient Clinic:
\n̈ Provides patient care to infants through geriatric patients under the supervision of Physician and/or Nurse Practitioner.
\n̈ Under the direction of the Physician and/or Nurse Practitioner, removes patients' sutures from surgical site.
\n̈ Discharges patients from clinic with their instructions after being seen by a physician or nurse practitioner.
\n̈ Sets up minor procedure room and assists physician and nurse practitioner with all procedures.
\n̈ Assists in patient care pre and post procedure and/or clinic visit.
\n̈ Assists in scheduling patients and monitoring for referrals.
\n̈ Schedules surgeries, testing, and hospitalizations, works with insurance companies in pre-certification process.
\n̈ Triages phone calls, provides assistance to callers, routes calls to necessary personnel.
\n̈ Orders needed surgical instruments and supplies.
\n̈ Maintains and organizes minor OR supplies and preparation of instruments for sterilization.
\n̈ Provides clinical support to front desk and coworkers as needed.
\n̈ Prepares patient charts with clinical information for each clinic visit.
\n̈ Continually strives to identify areas of cost containment by monitoring supplies and equipment.
\n̈ Attends assigned and/or scheduled in-service education meetings and staff meetings.
\n̈ Promotes an environment that is conducive to employee and patient safety.
\n̈ Must be flexible with workload, schedule and location to meet department volume demands.
\n̈ Maintains confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
\n̈ Maintenance of office equipment in good operational order.
\nDepartment Specific:
\n̈ Assists with patient assessments and participates in discharge planning while maintaining therapeutic partnership with patients, family, and caregivers.
\n̈ Reinforces patient/family teaching plan focused on a patient's needs and in accordance to age specific competencies.
\n̈ Administers medication according to policy.
\n̈ Implements physician orders.
\n̈ Provides direct patient care in a personalized, efficient manner with respect for spiritual and cultural differences.
\n̈ Reports patient's status, refers problems when necessary and anticipates situations that prevent/minimize adverse outcomes or less than optimal
\noutcomes.
\n̈ Follows established plan of care.
\n̈ Collaborates with members of the health care team.

\nJob Qualifications
\nEducation
\nRequired: Graduate of an accredited CST program.
\nPreferred:
\nExperience
\nRequired: Minimum of one year surgical experience
\nPreferred: One year office experience
\nComputer literacy and skills
\nExperience with EPIC
\nExperience with insurances/authorization process.
\nCertification/Licensure/Registration
\nRequired: N/A
