Marine Electrician

Marine Electrician Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician / First-Class Electrician with strong technical skills in electrical and electronic systems, preferably in a marine or shipbuilding environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in power distribution, motor control, and cable testing, with the ability to interpret electrical schematics and follow complex installation and troubleshooting procedures.

Marine Electrician Responsibilities:

  Layout, install, and repair shipboard cables, lighting systems, and electronic equipment.

• \n

  Work on ship’s power systems and integrate electrical components according to engineering specifications.

\n
• \n

  Utilize hand tools, power tools, and a variety of electrical test equipment.

\n
• \n

  Set up and use test equipment for electrical and electronic systems, including cable testing (CAT 5, Fiber Optic).

\n
• \n

  Perform work according to electrical schematics, drawings, and written procedures.

\n
• \n

  Install and troubleshoot motor control systems and power distribution systems.

\n
• \n

  Test and support shipboard systems including power, combat, radar, sonar, and communication systems.

\n
• \n

  Work in a physically demanding environment, including confined spaces, heights, and various weather conditions.

\n
• \n

  Adhere strictly to safety procedures and promote a safe working environment.

\n
• \n

  Flexibly support day or night shifts based on construction schedules.

\n

Marine Electrician Requirements:

• \n

  Minimum of 4 years verifiable experience in the electrical/electronic field.

\n
• \n

  Experience with test equipment setup, handling, and cable testing (CAT 5 and fiber optic).

\n
• \n

  Proficient in working with motor control systems and power distribution networks.

\n
• \n

  Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to follow complex schematics and test procedures.

\n
• \n

  Knowledge of high-voltage electrical applications and marine/defense systems is preferred.

\n
• \n

  Experience with the operation and testing of power, combat, communication, radar, and sonar systems is a plus.

\n
• \n

  Comfortable working multiple shifts and in physically challenging environments.

\n
• \n

  U.S. Citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S. (required due to federal contract obligations).
