About the role

\n

The EDM Machinist will be responsible for the precision machining, repair, and fabrication of complex metal components using Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment. This role supports the restoration and manufacturing of critical power generation components by producing close-tolerance parts that meet stringent engineering and quality requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience operating wire EDM and/or sinker EDM equipment, interpreting engineering drawings, and machining complex alloy components used in the power generation industry.

OUTAGE ASSIGNMENT: This position supports a scheduled customer outage assignment and is project-based in nature. Team members will report to the assigned outage location for the duration of the project. This is not a permanent position, and the assignment will conclude upon completion of the outage.

Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Perform precision machining using wire EDM and/or sinker EDM equipment to manufacture and repair complex metal components to engineering specifications
  • \n
  • Set up, program,operate, and maintain EDM machines, selectingappropriate tooling, electrodes, fixtures, and machining parameters
  • \n
  • Machine components to close tolerances whilemaintainingrequired surface finishes and dimensional accuracy
  • \n
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, GD&T, and work instructions to execute machining operations
  • \n
  • Machine stainless steel, carbon steel, Inconel, tool steels, hardened materials, and other specialty alloys commonly used in power generation applications
  • \n
  • Inspect completed components using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring equipment (CMM) asrequired
  • \n
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and process adjustments to ensureoptimalequipment performance and machining quality
  • \n
  • Collaborate with engineers, welders, machinists, and quality personnel to develop machining strategies and resolve manufacturing challenges
  • \n
  • Document completed work including inspection records, traveler sheets, machining parameters, and quality documentation
  • \n
  • Maintaina clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with all facility safety policies and applicable regulations
  • \n
  • Assistwith additional precision machining, fabrication, and component repair activities as assigned
  • \n

Experience / Required Qualifications

\n
    \n
  • Minimum 5 years of experienceoperatingElectrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment in a precision manufacturing environment
  • \n
  • Demonstratedexperience operating wire EDM, sinker EDM, or both
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of EDM machining principles including electrodeselection, machine setup, programming, and process optimization
  • \n
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and machining specifications
  • \n
  • Experience machining precision components with tight tolerances and high-quality surface finish requirements
  • \n
  • Proficiencyusing precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, and other inspection equipment
  • \n
  • Experience machining stainless steel, Inconel, hardened steels, tool steels, and other specialty alloys
  • \n
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability toidentifyand resolve machining and equipment issues
  • \n
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality precision components
  • \n
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a machinist apprenticeship, trade school, or technical program preferred
  • \n

Preferred Qualifications

\n
    \n
  • Experience supporting power generation, nuclear, aerospace, or heavy industrial manufacturing operations
  • \n
  • Experience with CNC programming and EDM programming software
  • \n
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and interpretation of 3D engineering models
  • \n
  • Knowledge of ASME, ISO, or other regulated manufacturing quality standards
  • \n
  • Experience operating CNC mills, lathes, grinders, or other precisionmachiningequipment
  • \n
  • Experience withcomponentrepair and refurbishment in a turbine or rotating equipment environment
  • \n

Compensation

\n

  • Hourly pay: Approximately $55per hour,corresponding with experience and qualifications
  • \n
  • Eligible for per diemin accordance withcompany policy when working on qualifying outage assignments
  • \n
  • Overtime opportunitiesavailable based on project schedules and business needs
  • \n
