\n*Position Summary*\n
\n
\nWe are seeking a *senior-level Employment Law Attorney (10+ years)* to serve as the *Head of the Employment Law Department*. This is a *hands-on leadership role* for an attorney who can *build and scale a team, lead complex litigation, and take cases through trial*.\n
\n
\nThis role is designed for a *top-tier plaintiff-side attorney* who wants to *own a department*, drive strategy, and deliver high-value results.\n
\n
\n*Key ResponsibilitiesDepartment Leadership & Growth*\n
\n
\n* Build, lead, and manage the Employment Law Department (attorneys, paralegals, and support staff)\n
\n* Develop and implement department structure, workflows, and performance standards\n
\n* Mentor and supervise attorneys, ensuring high-quality litigation and accountability\n
\n* Partner with firm leadership on hiring, growth strategy, and long-term vision\n
\n* Establish a results-driven, high-performance culture\n
\n
\n*Litigation & Trial*\n
\n
\n* Maintain an active caseload of complex employment law matters from intake through trial or resolution\n
\n* Handle all aspects of litigation, including:\n
\n* Case evaluation and strategy development\n
\n* Pleadings and motion practice\n
\n* Discovery and depositions\n
\n* Court appearances and hearings\n
\n* Lead *class action and representative litigation*, including wage and hour and PAGA claims\n
\n* Conduct mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation\n
\n* Serve as *lead trial counsel* on high-exposure, high-value matters\n
\n
\n*Operational & Strategic Oversight*\n
\n
\n* Oversee case progress, team performance, and litigation outcomes\n
\n* Refine intake strategy and case selection to maximize results\n
\n* Ensure compliance with all California and federal employment laws and ethical standards\n
\n
\n*Required Qualifications*\n
\n
\n* *Juris Doctor (JD)* from an ABA-accredited law school\n
\n* *Active license and good standing with the State Bar of California* (required)\n
\n* *10+ years of employment law litigation experience*\n
\n* Demonstrated ability to *handle full-cycle litigation through trial*\n
\n* Significant experience with *class action and/or PAGA litigation*\n
\n* Proven leadership experience managing attorneys and legal staff\n
\n* Strong command of California and federal employment laws, including:\n
\n* Wage and hour\n
\n* Discrimination, harassment, and retaliation\n
\n* Wrongful termination\n
\n* FEHA, FLSA, and related statutes\n
\n* Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills\n
\n
\n*Preferred Qualifications*\n
\n
\n* First-chair trial experience\n
\n* Experience building or scaling a plaintiff-side employment practice\n
\n* Strong strategic and business-minded approach to litigation\n
\n
\n*Compensation*\n
\n
\n* *Base Salary: $350,000 – $400,000*\n
\n* *Incentive-Based Bonus Structure* (performance-driven; tied to case outcomes and department success)\n
