Overview and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery is responsible for delivering care to perinatal patients under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, Manager, and Director of the Family Birthing Center. This role involves providing direct patient care in line with established policies and procedures, as well as professional standards, all while supporting the mission of our organization. Care is delivered in a family-centered atmosphere, catering to adolescents (ages 12-17), adult women (ages 18-64), and newborns. Continuous education is essential, including Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring, STABLE, and other courses mandated by Perinatal Safety Initiatives.

Essential qualifications include:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification to be obtained within one year of starting employment
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification to be acquired within 30 days of starting employment
  • Neonate Resuscitation certification to be obtained within one year of starting employment
  • Registered Nurse license
  • Associate degree in nursing
  • Registered Nurse Diploma
