Our organization serves as a teaching hospital, offering a comprehensive array of services enhanced by cutting-edge technology, alongside a commitment to education and research. In the role of Staff Orthopedic Surgeon, your primary responsibility will be to provide exceptional orthopedic care to our Veteran patients. While research interests are welcomed, they are not mandatory. For qualified candidates, dedicated time for research may be allocated. Teaching is a vital component of our mission, and an academic appointment with our partners is a possibility.
Your responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to:
- Performing surgical procedures with expertise in various areas of Orthopedics, including but not limited to: arthritis disorders, degenerative arthritis of the shoulder and knee, musculoskeletal injuries and metastatic lesions, knee injuries, shoulder injuries, hip injuries, foot and ankle injuries, shoulder surgery, hand surgery, arthroscopic knee surgery, total knee replacement, total hip replacement, and other general orthopedic surgeries and joint procedures.
- Overseeing and teaching surgical residents.
- Providing consultations in both outpatient clinic settings and inpatient wards.
- Engaging in Medical Center committees.
- Carrying out additional duties as assigned by the Chief of Surgery or Chief of Staff.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with on-call responsibilities for weeknights and weekends shared among the group, managed via phone with on-site rounds as necessary.

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Authorized.
Compensation: Competitive salary range of $300K-$400K annually, along with an annual performance bonus and regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off each year, which includes 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and a potential 5-day paid absence for CME.
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with contributions of up to 5% by the organization.
Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance (many federal insurance programs can be continued into retirement).
Licensure: One full and unrestricted medical license from any US state or territory.
CME: Possible reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year (must be full-time with board certification).
Malpractice: Liability protection with tail coverage provided at no cost.
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting.
Applicants must meet the following criteria: 1) Be a US Citizen or PRA, 2) Have completed training in Orthopedic Surgery, and 3) Hold a full, unrestricted medical license in any state. Preferred qualifications include Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery.
