The Critical Care Nurse Practitioner: Works under the direct supervision of an Intensivist and is responsible for providing clinical care for oncology patients and coordination of services provided by nurse practitioners in his/her section of their department.

\n

Â

\n

Schedule:

\n

·        This is a Full-time Nights position where you will work 12-hr shifts Tuesday - Sunday every other week.

\n

·        Six Nights shifts required while the seventh night (Monday) is an optional overt time shift available for call but is not mandatory.

\n

Â

\n

Overall responsibilities include but are not limited to:Â Â

\n

·        Provides appropriate patient care for patients with hematologic and oncologic malignancies in the ICU or step-down unit to include recording patient medical history and physical assessment, developing therapeutic care plan, ordering diagnostic tests, interpreting test results, discharge planning and providing accurate medical record documentation.Â

\n

·        Educate patients in areas of procedures, pharmacology, self-management of side effects and available community resources.Â

\n

·        Provides symptom management for treatment related toxicities.Â

\n

·        Facilitates communication regarding goals of care including end of life decision making.Â

\n

·        Collaborates and effectively communicates with referring physicians/clinicians and stakeholders.Â

\n

·        Complying with all hospital by-laws, rules, and regulations; has all entries in the medical record co-signed by the attending physician

\n

·        Prescribes Category III and above drugs as indicated by state/federal licensing, provides orders under supervision of physician during assigned on call duty.

\n

·        Performs rounds in Infusion Center or Inpatient Unit and writes progress notes as appropriate or instructed by MD and manager.Â

\n

·        Orders medication and develops treatment and evaluations with supervising physicians, as well as acts as liaison between patients, RNs, and physiciansÂ

\n

Minimum Requirements

\n

·        Masters degree in nursing, specialty in related field

\n

·        Current Georgia RN license and Georgia Advance Practice-NP licenses required.

\n

·        National Board certification by the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)

\n

·        ACLS (If not AHA must obtain AHA certification within 30 days of hire)

\n

·        BLS (If not AHA must obtain AHA certification within 30 days of hire)

\n

·        ONS certification (optional)

\n

·        AOCNP (optional)

\n


\n

Minimum Experience Required

\n

·        Strong Medical skills within critical situations (triage)

\n

·        Perform duties and manages time and tasks to enable completion of daily work dutiesÂ

\n

·        Discerns when the situation necessitates advice and obtains information from ManagerÂ

\n

·        Prioritizes goals and manages time and strong attention to detailsÂ

\n
