Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Inpatient GASTROENTEROLOGY
Job Description
Our organization is seeking an Inpatient Gastroenterology APP to deliver comprehensive care to hospitalized patients in partnership with GI Hospitalists and Gastroenterologists. This position plays a vital role in supporting the inpatient GI service through patient evaluations, care coordination, procedural assistance, and management of gastrointestinal conditions, all while prioritizing high-quality, patient-centered care.
Primary Responsibilities- Conduct daily rounds to assess patients with gastrointestinal issues.
- Collaborate with supervising physicians to create and implement treatment plans.
- Oversee admissions, consultations, progress notes, and discharge planning.
- Assist physicians during GI procedures as needed.
- Interpret diagnostic tests, lab results, and imaging studies.
- Coordinate care with hospitalists, nursing staff, specialists, and ancillary services.
- Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care.
- Ensure smooth transitions of care and arrange outpatient follow-up appointments.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and support service line objectives.
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Board certified or eligible (PA-C).
- Experience in gastroenterology is preferred; however, new graduates with strong inpatient training will be considered.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Strong clinical judgment and procedural capabilities.
- Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Capability to manage complex inpatient medical conditions.
- Outstanding communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proficient in electronic medical record documentation.
- Ability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
- Primarily based in a hospital setting focused on inpatient care.
- Close collaboration with GI Hospitalists and Gastroenterologists.
- Involves inpatient rounding, consultation management, procedural support, and coordination of outpatient follow-up care.
