Building Manager/Custodian

St. Peter's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Narragansett, Rhode Island, seeks a building manager/custodian.

The Building Manager/custodian is the caretaker of St. Peter’s buildings, furniture, grounds, and is responsible for their efficient operation, maintenance, and cleanliness. The Building manager ensures the facility is safe, clean ,and accessible for worship, meetings, and events.

Qualifications:

• 1 - 3 years related experience or training in building maintenance, safety, and security
• Ability to stand for long periods, climb ladders, and lift/carry, push or pull heavy items (typically 50–75 lbs)
• Knowledge of general custodial work, cleaning equipment, and general maintenance and repair. (carpentry, plumbing, electrical)
• Knowledge of building systems (doors, windows, alarms, HVAC, electrical, plumbing) sump pump.
• Communicate and support staff, volunteers, and parishioners for event set ups /breakdowns and other programming requirements.
• Available evenings and weekends

Success Statement(s)

A successful sexton will consistently complete all regular cleaning, maintenance, service, and repairs parish wide within expected deadlines to ensure building safety, security and continuity.

A successful sexton will support all religious services and community service events to ensure seamless delivery and will manage relationships with all subcontractors/ outside sources.

Salary/Compensation: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
