Hospice Registered Nurse

$44-$5/hr + paid mileage | Elm Grove, WI

The Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) provides compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals with terminal illnesses, focusing on comfort, dignity, and quality of life. This role involves working closely with patients and families in home settings as well as hospice centers.

This role plays a critical role in managing symptoms, supporting emotional and spiritual needs, and guiding families through end-of-life care.


Responsibilities of the Hospice Registered Nurse will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct nursing care aligned with individualized hospice care plans
  • Assess patient condition, symptoms, and needs on an ongoing basis
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Manage pain and symptoms to ensure patient comfort
  • Educate patients and families on disease progression and care techniques
  • Offer emotional support and guidance to patients and loved ones
  • Collaborate with physicians, social workers, aides, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Maintain accurate documentation in EMR systems
  • Participate in care plan meetings and adjust plans as needed
  • Travel locally to patient homes and care facilities throughout the service area


Requirements for the Hospice Registered Nurse role:

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking
  • Compassion and emotional resilience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently in community-based settings
  • Time management and organizational skills


Our ideal Hospice Registered Nurse candidate will posses:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Wisconsin
  • Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred)
  • 1–2+ years of clinical nursing experience (hospice, home health, or acute care preferred)
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
