Histology job opportunity in San Diego, CA!

\n
• The schedule for this opportunity is Tuesday - Saturday 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm.
\n
• Working under general direction to precisely and accurately conduct a variety of routine and specialized histology procedures.
\n
• Researching, troubleshooting, and resolving histology related inquiries and problems within the laboratory.
\n
• This position requires you to produce the highest quality of microtomy, tissue grossing, tissue processing, and H&E staining, and equipment maintenance
\n
• Preparing microscopic slides on human tissue for research/diagnostic purposes, including processing, embedding, microtomy, and mounting to include paraffin processed tissue
\n
• Quality control and quality assurance procedures
\n
• Slide organization, prepares and maintains all necessary reagents, including stains, alcohols, and paraffins according to proper specifications
\n
• Processing specimen accessioning to include all manual and computerized data entry
\n
• Performing routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by a pathologist(s) according to established SOP’s
\n
• Performing routine maintenance on laboratory equipment in designated area. This includes cleaning equipment, minor troubleshooting and reporting any irregularities in operation to supervisor/manager
\n

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

\n
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in science highly preferred
\n
• Certification: HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) required
\n
• At least 2 years of experience in high complexity clinical laboratory testing, preferably in molecular diagnostics
\n
• Ability to confidently and rapidly cut and mount high quality tissue sections from a variety of tissue types including needle biopsies
\n
• Maintains continuing education units required by California Department of Health Services
\n
• Must be meticulous and detail oriented
\n
• Experience managing people a plus
\n
• Experience with all major brands of histology equipment a plus.
\n

Pay range
\n $32—$36 USD
