Join Our Team as a Skilled and Compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cath LabThe RN will deliver exceptional patient care during both diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, prioritizing patient safety and comfort throughout the experience.
Schedule: Minimum of 2 shifts per month
Response Time: 30 minutes
Job Overview:
The RN will plan, coordinate, and implement care for adult patients in the Cardiac Cath Lab. This role ensures that high-quality care is delivered efficiently and safely, adhering to the unit's standards and demonstrating the necessary clinical competencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a circulator, scrub, or monitor within the Cath Lab procedure team.
- Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring all necessary information, such as history and physical (H&P), is collected promptly.
- Utilize critical judgment to assess patients and administer medications, particularly for critically ill individuals, while promptly reporting any abnormalities to the physician.
- Safely perform hemostasis with or without vascular devices.
- Accurately enter patient orders and charges, verifying their correctness.
- Provide care for critically ill patients, demonstrating the ability to work independently in high-pressure situations.
- Educate patients and their families based on assessed needs, documenting the information shared and keeping them informed about tests and treatments. Offer clear instructions regarding what to expect during the perioperative process.
- Assist families in navigating to the cardiology or Cath Lab areas as needed.
- May conduct point-of-care testing in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.
- Experience: No prior experience required.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly communicate verbally to convey information.
- Frequent standing and walking required.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
- Regular sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
- Frequent visual acuity for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, including color differentiation.
- Regularly use smell to identify odors.
- Consistently use hearing to receive verbal communication and detect alarms or machinery issues.
- Occasional lifting of objects weighing 25-50 lbs and moving patients.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive movements of hands and legs.
- Occasional driving may be required.
- Rarely involves crawling or running.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
For Illinois:
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
For Missouri:
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration or RN issued by Compact State
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
For Oklahoma:
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State or Registered Nurse (RN) - Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN)
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
For Wisconsin:
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State or Registered Nurse (RN) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
