RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Neurocritical Care Attending to join our growing Neurology team at Community Medical Center. This is an exciting opportunity to practice in a collaborative, high-acuity environment within New Jerseys largest integrated healthcare system, while contributing to the continued advancement of stroke and neurocritical care services.

\n

This role offers a unique consultative model within the ICU, allowing the Neurocritical Care Attending to provide specialized expertise for complex neurological and neurosurgical cases while working alongside multidisciplinary teams. The position also includes a structured week-on/week-off schedule supporting both on-site care and telestroke services across multiple RWJBarnabas Health facilities.

Position Overview

\n

The Neurocritical Care Attending will provide full-time clinical and administrative services, delivering expert consultation for critically ill patients with neurological conditions. This role supports a consult-only ICU model, where the ICU team remains primary, and neurocritical care expertise is provided through daily rounding and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

    \n
  • Provide neurocritical care consultation for ICU patients with acute neurological and neurosurgical conditions, including:
  • \n
      \n
    • Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), large vessel occlusion (LVO)
    • \n
    • Post-operative neurosurgical cases, cerebral edema, seizures, and other neurological emergencies
    • \n
    \n
  • Participate in ICU rounds, physician collaboration, and family discussions
  • \n
  • Deliver ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA) management support
  • \n
  • Provide 26 weeks of annual coverage in a structured week-on/week-off model:
  • \n
      \n
    • Daily schedule: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (on-site)
    • \n
    • Overnight coverage: 5:00 PM 8:00 AM (unrestricted, including telestroke responsibilities)
    • \n
    • 24/7 tele-evaluation availability for stroke patients across northern RWJBarnabas Health sites
    • \n
    \n
  • Educate residents and colleagues in neurocritical care
  • \n
  • Participate in multidisciplinary quality, safety, and stroke program initiatives
  • \n
  • Contribute to the development of treatment protocols and evidence-based care pathways
  • \n
  • Support and advance Joint Commission Stroke Center certification efforts
  • \n
  • Participate in the Stroke Advisory Committee and required CME activities
  • \n
  • Engage in IRB-approved research and patient recruitment initiatives
  • \n

Candidate Requirements

\n
    \n
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology
  • \n
  • Fellowship training in Neurocritical Care preferred
  • \n
  • Eligible for New Jersey medical licensure
  • \n
  • Strong clinical, communication, and collaborative skills
  • \n
  • Commitment to academic medicine, education, and quality improvement
  • \n

Compensation & Benefits

\n

The anticipated salary range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey is $300,000 $450,000 per year. The compensation offered will depend on several factors, including educational background, skills, and professional experience.
