Medical Director in Adrian, MI

Lead, build, and make an impact in rural healthcare. TeamHealth is seeking an experienced primary care physician to help build and lead a new rural health clinic expanding access to high-quality, integrated healthcare throughout Adrian, Michigan, and surrounding communities. This leadership role focuses on primary care and physician collaboration with nurse practitioners and physician assistants. The medical director is not responsible for clinical supervision of the clinic's licensed clinical social worker, PMHNP, or medication-assisted treatment (MAT) program, which are supported by dedicated behavioral health leadership. Family medicine Pediatric and adult primary care Preventive care and chronic disease management Women's health Integrated behavioral health Psychiatric medication management MAT Care coordination and population health Responsibilities Clinical Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic conditions Promote preventive care and patient education Coordinate specialty care Maintain timely, accurate EHR documentation Medical Director Collaborate with and mentor NPs/PAs Support onboarding and clinician development Lead quality improvement initiatives Review documentation and charts as required Promote patient safety, regulatory compliance, and survey readiness Assist with clinician recruitment and retention Build relationships with community physicians, hospitals, and referral partners Integrated Care Partner with behavioral health clinicians to support coordinated patient care Collaborate on workflow and quality initiatives No clinical supervision or operational oversight of behavioral health or MAT services Qualifications Required MD or DO Board certified/eligible in family or internal medicine North Carolina medical license (or ability to obtain) DEA registration (or ability to obtain) Minimum two years of primary care experience Preferred Prior physician leadership or medical director experience Experience collaborating with NPs/PAs Rural health experience Interest in quality improvement and practice development Passion for mentoring clinicians and building high-performing teams If you're looking for more than a traditional outpatient practice and want to help build an innovative, integrated rural healthcare model that will make a lasting impact on the community, apply today.
