Basic Job Functions: The Second Helper responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to, assisting the team with the operation and maintenance of the EAF, supporting upset conditions, sanding ladles, preparing and analyzing slag samples, ensuring the furnace deck has the necessary supplies, operating an overhead crane—including the use of crane automation systems—and dropping charges, performing general housekeeping, and completing other tasks related to the successful operation of the Melt Shop. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications: Willingness to work a flexible schedule and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Preferred Qualifications: Current or previous experience working in Melt Shop.
