Job Description

Position Overview - THIS IS A TRAVELING POSITION **MUST BE ABLE TO TRAVEL**

We are seeking experienced Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) Steel Craftsmen (Structural Ironworkers Welcomed) to join our field erection crews. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience erecting structural steel framing systems — including primary and secondary structural members — and installing both Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) and PBR standing-rib panel systems on commercial and industrial PEMB projects. This is a skilled trade position requiring the ability to work safely at height, read erection drawings, and meet production schedules in a fast-paced construction environment.

Pay Rate - $25 - $32 Depending on skill/experience level

Key Responsibilities

\n

Structural Steel Framing

\n
    \n
  • Erect primary structural members including rigid-frame columns and rafters per manufacturer erection drawings
  • \n
  • Install secondary structural members: Z-section and C-section purlins (roof) and girts (wall)
  • \n
  • Set, plumb, and brace structural frames to required tolerances using turnbuckles, cable bracing, and rod bracing
  • \n
  • Install flange braces, sag angles, and anti-roll clips per erection sequence
  • \n
  • Handle, sort, and stage structural steel components safely on the job site
  • \n
  • Read and interpret PEMB erection drawings, anchor bolt plans, and framing schedules
  • \n
\n

Roof & Wall Panel Installation — IMP Systems

    \n
  • Install Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) systems on roofs and walls, including foam-core and mineral-wool-core panels
  • \n
  • Execute proper sequencing, alignment, and joint sealing per manufacturer installation guidelines
  • \n
  • Install panel clips, sub-framing, and support systems as required by IMP system specifications
  • \n
  • Apply and inspect sealant, tape, and closure systems at panel laps, endlaps, and flashings
  • \n

Roof & Wall Panel Installation — PBR Panel Systems

    \n
  • Install PBR (Purlin Bearing Rib) standing-seam and exposed-fastener roof and wall panel systems
  • \n
  • Maintain proper panel alignment, fastener patterns, and lap configurations per project specifications
  • \n
  • Install ridge caps, eave trim, gable trim, base trim, and all associated flashings and closures
  • \n
  • Perform correct sealing, caulking, and weatherproofing at all panel terminations and penetrations
  • \n

General Field Duties

\n
    \n
  • Operate aerial work platforms, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and man baskets as required (certifications a plus)
  • \n
  • Rig and signal crane lifts of structural steel and panel bundles
  • \n
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety programs
  • \n
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks, pre-task planning, and safety observations
  • \n
  • Perform quality control self-inspections and report deficiencies to the foreman
  • \n
  • Assist with loading/unloading of material deliveries and proper stacking and storage of panels and steel
  • \n

Required Qualifications

\n
    \n
  • Minimum 3 years of verifiable PEMB erection experience in a commercial or industrial setting
  • \n
  • Demonstrated experience erecting columns, rafters, purlins, and girts from engineered drawings
  • \n
  • Proven hands-on installation experience with IMP panel systems (minimum 1 project)
  • \n
  • Proven hands-on installation experience with PBR panel systems (roof and/or wall)
  • \n
  • Ability to read (If foreman) or follow directives (if hand) from PEMB erection drawings, framing plans, and panel layout sheets
  • \n
  • Competency with hand tools, impact wrenches, self-drilling screw guns, and layout instruments
  • \n
  • Ability to work at heights — comfortable on open-web steel at elevation
  • \n
  • OSHA 10 certification (Company Provided if needed)
  • \n
  • Valid driver’s license; reliable transportation and willingness to travel
  • \n
\n

Preferred Qualifications

\n
    \n
  • Experience with multiple PEMB manufacturers (Nucor, BlueScope/Butler, Metallic Building Co., Robertson-Ceco, VP Buildings, or similar)
  • \n
  • Forklift and/or aerial work platform operator certifications
  • \n
  • Experience working under an IMP manufacturer’s certified installer program
  • \n
  • Ability to act as a lead hand or crew lead on smaller erection teams
  • \n
\n

Physical Requirements

\n
    \n
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs repeatedly throughout the workday
  • \n
  • Comfortable working at heights on open structural steel, rooftops, and elevated platforms
  • \n
  • Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and work in physically demanding field conditions
  • \n
  • Work outdoors in variable weather conditions including heat, cold, and wind
  • \n
  • Must be able to wear and use all required PPE including fall protection harness and lanyard
  • \n
