Job Description
Hiring for an experienced Level 2 Onsite IT Lead Technician to become the senior technical presence at a dedicated school site in Stevenage. This is a hands-on role combining 1st, 2nd and some 3rd line support with responsibility for mentoring junior technicians, maintaining IT infrastructure and ensuring a first-class service for both staff and students.
\nYou'll work closely with the Technical Account Manager and wider Managed Services team, acting as the main onsite technical contact while delivering high-quality support, driving continuous improvements and leading small IT projects.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Provide 1st, 2nd and initial 3rd line IT support across hardware, software and network infrastructure. \n
- Act as the senior onsite technical lead and primary point of contact for school staff. \n
- Mentor and support Level 1 Technicians and Apprentices. \n
- Troubleshoot Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory and networking issues. \n
- Support classroom technology, AV equipment and end-user devices. \n
- Investigate and resolve infrastructure issues including switches, Wi-Fi, cabling and network connectivity. \n
- Manage and prioritise support tickets, ensuring SLA targets are met. \n
- Maintain accurate documentation, asset registers, user accounts and change records. \n
- Deliver approved technical changes and small onsite IT projects. \n
- Work closely with internal technical teams, third-party suppliers and stakeholders to ensure excellent service delivery. \n

- Previous experience in a 2nd Line or Senior IT Support position. \n
- Strong knowledge of:\n

- Windows Server \n
- Windows 10 & 11 \n
- Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams & SharePoint) \n
- Active Directory & Group Policy \n
- Networking (Switches, VLANs & Wi-Fi) \n
- Hardware diagnostics and repairs \n
- Backup technologies such as Veeam \n
- Imaging and deployment (SCCM, MDT or Intune) \n
\n - Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills. \n
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of an onsite IT environment. \n

- Experience mentoring junior IT engineers. \n
- Previous experience working within the education sector. \n
- Microsoft Intune / Mobile Device Management. \n
- Hyper-V or VMware. \n
- ITIL Foundation certification. \n
- Apple/iOS device management. \n
- Knowledge of safeguarding or education-based IT environments. \n

- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to other customer sites when required. \n
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one). \n
- Professional, customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills. \n
- Comfortable working full-time onsite within a school environment. \n
