Location: Durham, County DurhamJob Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / FlexibleStart Date: September 2026Salary: £105-£130 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role\n

We are currently recruiting confident, adaptable, and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to support a range of secondary schools across Durham from September 2026.

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced support staff, or individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a secondary school setting. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged with their learning and complete the work set.

\n

Working across Key Stages 3 and 4, you will play a vital role in maintaining a positive, productive, and well-managed learning environment.

Key Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Supervise classes in the absence of the regular classroom teacher
  • \n
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure students remain on task
  • \n
  • Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies
  • \n
  • Provide guidance and support to students where required
  • \n
  • Maintain a safe and positive learning environment
  • \n
  • Record attendance and report any behavioural or safeguarding concerns
  • \n
  • Liaise with teaching and support staff as necessary
  • \n
Person Specification\n
    \n
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • \n
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • \n
  • Confidence managing groups of secondary-aged students
  • \n
  • Excellent organisational and classroom management skills
  • \n
  • A proactive, flexible, and professional approach
  • \n
  • A genuine interest in education and supporting young people
  • \n
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential
  • \n
