A well-established UK financial services organisation undergoing a major data transformation, with significant investment in data engineering, governance, and a modern data platform (Microsoft Fabric).
\nWith strong foundations now in place, the focus is on building a central analytics capability to drive insight-led decision making across the business.
The Opportunity\nThis is a greenfield leadership role reporting into the Director of Delivery & Data, with a vision to create an AI-first, insight-driven organisation.
\nYou'll establish and lead an Analytics Centre of Excellence, partnering across key business areas such as performance, risk, and finance.
\nThis is a player-coach role, leading a small team (3-4 analysts/data scientists) while remaining close enough to delivery to ensure analytics drives real business value.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuild & Lead Analytics Capability\n- \n
- Establish the central Analytics CoE \n
- Define standards, processes, and priorities \n
- Manage and develop a high-performing team \n
- \n
- Deliver actionable analytics that influences decision-making \n
- Translate business problems into analytical solutions \n
- Identify opportunities to improve performance and efficiency \n
- \n
- Work closely with C-Suite and senior leaders \n
- Challenge and shape business questions \n
- Embed analytics into decision-making \n
- \n
- Lead development of semantic models and datasets (Gold layer) \n
- Collaborate with Data Engineering teams \n
- Drive self-service analytics adoption \n
- \n
- Contribute to AI and advanced analytics initiatives \n
- Help drive a shift toward predictive, data-driven decisions \n
- \n
- Experience leading analytics, insight, or BI teams \n
- Background in data transformation or capability building \n
- Track record of delivering commercial impact through analytics \n
- Strong experience working with senior stakeholders / Exec level \n
- \n
- Strong grounding in:\n
- \n
- SQL and data analysis \n
- Data visualisation tools (Power BI or similar) \n
\n - Understanding of:\n

- data / semantic modelling concepts \n
- working with data engineering teams \n
\n - Exposure to advanced analytics or AI is beneficial \n

- Comfortable in a player-coach role \n
- Strong communicator, able to translate data into business value \n

- Curious, proactive, and confident challenging stakeholders \n

- Able to be onsite in Nottingham 2 days per week (Tuesdays & Wednesdays) \n
