Job Description

KBM Training & Recruitment is seeking a passionate and experienced Functional Skills English & Maths Tutor to deliver high-quality teaching to learners studying Functional Skills qualifications. The successful candidate will inspire learners to develop their English and maths skills, helping them achieve their qualifications and progress into further education, apprenticeships, or employment.

Key Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Functional Skills English and/or Maths lessons from Entry Level to Level 2.
  • \n
  • Assess learners' initial abilities and develop individual learning plans to meet their needs.
  • \n
  • Monitor learner progress and provide regular feedback to support achievement.
  • \n
  • Prepare learners for Functional Skills examinations and assessments.
  • \n
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit learners with different abilities and learning styles.
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate learner records, attendance, progress reports, and assessment documentation.
  • \n
  • Provide additional learning support where required to help learners overcome barriers to learning.
  • \n
  • Promote high levels of learner engagement, motivation, and attendance.
  • \n
  • Ensure all teaching and assessment activities comply with awarding organisation and funding requirements.
  • \n
  • Work closely with the quality, safeguarding, and learner support teams to ensure positive learner outcomes.
  • \n
  • Participate in standardisation meetings, staff training, and continuous professional development (CPD).
  • \n
Essential Requirements\n
    \n
  • Level 2 qualification (minimum) in English and/or Mathematics.
  • \n
  • Teaching qualification (AET, CET, DET, PGCE or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.
  • \n
  • Experience delivering Functional Skills English and/or Maths.
  • \n
  • Strong communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
  • \n
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and online learning platforms.
  • \n
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and adults.
