Job Description
Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking CS&A Engineers at all Levels to support hybrid working and can be based across our office network within the UK - Stockton, Newcastle, Bristol, Gloucester, Glasgow, Westlakes and Warrington.
\nThese are contract positions inside IR35:
\nCS&A Engineer - £45-£55ph
\nSenior CS&A Engineer - £55-£65ph
\nPrincipal CS&A Engineer - £65-£75ph
\n
\n BPSS clearance is required for these roles.
\n ***Only apply if you are a British Citizen and passport holder and not have worked outside the UK during the past 5 years.***
CS&A Engineer Responsibilities:
\nTechnical quality and excellence of your work and the work of those working under you to ensure engineering delivery meets scope, time, cost and quality
\nProject planning, delivery and financial performance of your work and that of junior staff
\nCommunication with clients and other design team members to provide technical input and justification
\nTechnical and professional guidance, support and development of more junior designers
\nResponsible for the development and delivery of design documents and solutions
\nChair and facilitate technical and non-technical meetings including progress meetings and design reviews
\nIndependent and autonomous work during the delivery of complex engineering activities
\nBe fully conversant with business and quality management systems and actively encourage compliance within team.
\nCo-ordinate & supervise surveys (condition, measurement etc) & assessments
\nCriteria:
\nDegree qualified in Civil/Structural engineering or demonstrable equivalent underpinning knowledge and understanding
\nExperience in a civil and structural design role having direct influence over design practices and outcomes
\nProven ability to Lead projects of varying size and complexity, managing technical aspects as well as quality, budget, programme and resources
\nExpert in the use of the latest version of AutoCAD, Revit and associated software, with the ability to work unsupervised
\nKnowledge and understanding of British Standards and CDM regs
\nExperience in detailing of reinforced concrete and structural steelwork
\nAbility to work effectively as a team member liaising directly with clients and other cross discipline design team members
\nAwareness of applicable codes and safety legislation and how they should be applied
\nExcellent verbal and written communication, and report writing skills
\nSenior CS&A Engineer Responsibilities:
\nLead the development of civil and structural engineering designs and solutions across the full project lifecycle
\n Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and design justifications for safety-critical systems
\n Oversight, verification and preparation of safety case inputs, such as Safety Functional
\n Requirements (SFRs), Structural Design Method Statements (SDMSs) and Design Substantiation Reports (DSR).
\n Oversight, verification and preparation of Interpretive Reports, Basis of Design, Analysis Reports, Calculations, CDM documentation, Material Specifications, Scopes of Work, and Technical Reports
\n Demonstrate knowledge of the practical aspects of implementing engineering designs and understand the use of standards and compliance with regulatory requirements in an engineering environment.
\n Manage and check deliverables from junior engineers to ensure compliance and quality.
\n Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
\n Interface with clients, regulators, and project stakeholders on technical matters.
\n Ensure designs meet nuclear safety, cybersecurity, and quality standards.
\n Support project planning, cost estimating, and risk management activities.
\n Produce high-quality technical reports.
\n Build and maintain valuable relationships with clients, partners and peers.
Criteria:
Chartered or near Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional body (we will support you).
\n Knowledge of civil engineering principals, design tools and relevant guidelines, standards and practices
\n Ability to simplify complex problems.
\n Experience using finite element modelling software and associated post processing software, with experience in validation and verification of modelling tools and their outputs.
\n Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and good practice.
\n Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment.
\n Experience in producing and checking high-quality technical deliverables
\n Motivated team member with the ability to work to deadlines and communicate project progress.
\n Good communication skills and ability to articulate information to a broad range of stakeholders.

Principal CS&A Engineer Responsibilities:
\nLeading a team of CS&A engineers and architects in the definition, implementation and delivery of specified functional works that achieves safety, functional and business requirements.
\nKey role holder within the Engineering team on the project.
\nDelivery of the civil, structural, and architectural design.
\nManage the interface to and between key Delivery Partners and the design team.
\nUnderstanding of the commercial implications of products, scope and packages
\nDelivery of substantiation and other approvals.
\nRisk identification with proposed resolution / mitigation.
\nProduction of Schedule and identification of key milestones.
\nDevelop deliverables list and format (drawings, specifications, reports, BIM etc.)
\nCriteria:
\nHigher Education Qualification in Engineering (or equivalent) subject- MEng (preferred)
\nAppropriate (Engineering or Scientific) Institution Membership- Chartered Engineer
\nBackground engineering experience demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent positions influencing professional engineers and guiding technical personnel
\nExperience of working within a regulated and quality assured system (preferably nuclear) in roles where professional judgement is the key attribute
