Job Description
Design the Spaces Kids Remember This isn’t about drawing slides and colouring in foam. This role is about imagining experiences, shaping environments where children climb, explore, challenge themselves, and lose track of time — and then turning those ideas into real, buildable, safe play spaces that work beautifully in the real world. As a Project Designer, you’ll lead play environments from the spark of an idea through to manufacture and installation. You’ll blend creativity with technical thinking, visuals with practicality, and imagination with responsibility. If you enjoy seeing your designs go from screen → workshop → site — this one’s for you. What You’ll Be Creating You’ll design across a broad mix of play environments, including: * Soft play systems * Indoor adventure and agility play * Sensory and inclusive play environments * Outdoor play installations Each project is different. Each brief comes with its own constraints, opportunities, and creative challenges — which is exactly the point. Your Mission * Create engaging, original play environments that excite children and reassure adults * Own projects from concept to completion — creatively, technically, and commercially * Communicate ideas clearly through strong visuals, layouts, and presentations * Design with manufacture, installation, and safety in mind (without killing the fun) * Deliver work you’re proud to put your name against What You’ll Be DoingCreative Design & Concept Development * Turn client briefs into imaginative, workable play concepts * Develop layouts, themes, and spatial solutions that encourage movement, exploration, and sensory engagement * Balance creativity with safety, budget, and buildability Project Ownership * Lead projects from early concept through to final sign-off * Present ideas confidently to clients and stakeholders, refining designs through feedback * Keep projects moving — aligned to timelines, budgets, and expectations Visual & Technical Delivery * Produce high-quality drawings, layouts, and visuals using: * 3D AutoCAD * Rendering software (e.g. Twinmotion) * Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) * Create visuals that don’t just look good — they explain the experience * Ensure designs translate cleanly into manufacture and installation Collaboration & Making It Real * Work closely with engineers, manufacturers, and internal teams to refine designs * Solve problems before they become site issues * Support production and installation teams with clear design intent Standards, Safety & Innovation Ensure all designs meet relevant safety standards and regulations Stay curious — research trends, materials, and new ideas in play design Champion inclusive design and accessibility wherever possible Who This Role Suits A designer who enjoys owning projects, not just contributing assets Someone creative but grounded — ideas first, excuses never Comfortable juggling multiple projects without dropping quality Confident communicator with clients and internal teams Passionate about designing environments that actually get used (and abused) Skills & Experience Essential Degree in Product Design or similar Strong working knowledge of: 3D AutoCAD Rendering software (e.g. Twinmotion) Adobe Creative Suite Nice to Have Experience designing physical products or environments Understanding of materials and manufacturing processes Knowledge of inclusive or accessible design principles Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Education: Bachelor's (preferred) Experience: AutoCAD: 3 years (preferred) Work Location: In person
