Job Title: Ocean Imports Operator Location: Manchester Salary: Up to £38,000 (Depending on experience) An established global freight forwarding leader is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented logistics professional to join their high-volume Manchester team. Shifting focus to international inbound freight, this role gives you complete ownership of deep-sea import consignments from initial booking through to final arrival, prioritizing strict compliance and top-tier client satisfaction Key Responsibilities * End-to-End Import Management: Oversee the daily tracking and execution of ocean import files (both FCL and LCL) from origin to final destination * Customs & Documentation: Manage crucial import paperwork, process customs declarations, and clear bills of lading, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met * Vendor Coordination: Partner closely with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers, and customs brokers to secure spot rates and ensure smooth transit * Client Advisory: Serve as the main point of contact for key accounts, delivering real-time milestone updates and resolving logistical bottlenecks proactively * Financial Oversight: Handle job costing, execute accurate billing, and closely monitor file profitability What We Look For * Background: Solid, hands-on experience in Ocean Import Operations within a freight forwarding setup * Expertise: A thorough understanding of import customs clearance, Incoterms, and deep-sea shipping documentation * Software: Familiarity with freight management systems (such as CargoWise One or equivalent platforms) is an advantage * Skills: Excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment Benefits & Perks * Competitive salary package up to £38,000 based on your experience level * Clear opportunities for career advancement within a vast international network * Comprehensive company benefits package and a generous annual leave allowance
