We are recruiting for a SEND Teacher with a specialism in English to join a well-established specialist SEMH provision in Cambridgeshire. This small, nurturing school supports pupils aged 10-17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have experienced significant disruption, disengagement, or challenges within mainstream education. The provision is part of a respected specialist education group and is dedicated to helping young people rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes.

Set within a calm rural environment, the school offers personalised support and small class sizes, enabling staff to build meaningful relationships and provide highly individualised learning experiences. The school's approach is centred on creating a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where pupils feel valued, understood and able to thrive.

The Role

As SEND Teacher, you will lead on the delivery of English across the school while supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. Working with small groups and individual learners, you will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop the confidence, skills and resilience needed for future success.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons tailored to individual pupil needs

• Plan and teach lessons for small groups and individual students
\n
• Prepare teaching materials and maintain accurate records and registers
\n
• Monitor progress, assess learning and produce reports
\n
• Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
\n
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and carers to achieve the best outcomes for pupils
\n
• Promote positive behaviour through a consistent, trauma-informed approach
\n
• Contribute to a safe, respectful and nurturing learning environment
\n

About You

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS
\n
• Minimum two years' experience working within a SEND setting, alternative provision or similar specialist environment
\n
• Experience teaching English
\n
• A genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
\n
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
\n
• Resilience, creativity and a child-centred approach
\n
