\nMy client, a national professional services organisation has asked me to assist to in the hiring of a SQL Developer to join their business-critical technology team based in Birmingham city centre.
\nThe role supports a high-volume, automated case-management platform and is ideal for someone with strong SQL skills who enjoys problem-solving, analysing workflows, and working closely with the business, rather than purely greenfield development.
\n\nThe Role
\nYou’ll operate at the intersection of Support and Delivery, focusing on complex SQL-driven issues and small enhancement pieces that originate from live operational systems.
\nInitially, your work will centre around a high-volume service line that is fundamental to the organisation’s day-to-day operations, where data accuracy and system stability are essential.
\nThe role offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to develop deep system and domain knowledge over time.
\n\nKey Responsibilities:
\n- \n
- Writing and maintaining SQL queries and scripts in a live production environment \n
- Investigating and resolving complex, multi-day technical support issues \n
- Assessing system dependencies and business impact before implementing changes \n
- Supporting a workflow-based / case-management system \n
- Converting complex support tickets into small, deliverable enhancement pieces \n
- Working closely with developers, support teams, and business stakeholders \n
Required Experience:
\n- \n
- Strong, hands-on SQL experience (support or delivery focused) \n
- Background in technical application support or similarly complex environments \n
- Comfortable working on issues requiring detailed analysis and business understanding \n
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills \n
- Confident communicator with technical and non-technical teams \n
Desirable Experience
\n- \n
- Experience with case-management or workflow systems \n
- Exposure to professional services, financial services, legal, or regulated environments \n
- Understanding of how business processes map to data and system logic \n
Important Information

- Role is based in Birmingham city centre \n
- Hybrid working: 3 days per week onsite \n
- Candidates must already be established in the UK \n
