SEMH Teaching Assistant - Chelmsford\n
Start Date: September 2026Contract: Full-time, Term-time onlyLocation: Chelmsford, Essex
About the Role\nWe are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Chelmsford from September. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them engage positively with education and reach their full potential.
\nYou will work closely with teachers and support staff to deliver tailored support, both in the classroom and through targeted interventions.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs \n
- Assist in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner \n
- Promote emotional regulation and positive coping strategies \n
- Support learning activities and adapt resources where required \n
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff \n
- Contribute to behaviour support plans and progress monitoring \n
- \n
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or SEN (preferred but not essential) \n
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills \n
- A calm, patient and resilient approach \n
- Ability to de-escalate challenging situations effectively \n
- Passion for supporting vulnerable young people \n
- Team player with a proactive and flexible attitude \n
