Job Description
Teaching Assistant / Support Assistant – Job Specification (30 Hours per Week)
\nHours: 30 hours per week, Monday to FridayLocation: Preston (KS1 and wider school support as required)
\nKey Experience and Skills Required
\nEssential
\n- \n
- Experience supporting children with SEND, including:\n
- \n
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs \n
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) \n
- Behavioural needs and challenging behaviours \n
\n - Experience working with children in a primary school setting, particularly Key Stage 1 (KS1). \n
- Experience implementing behaviour management strategies in line with school policies. \n
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and carers. \n
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. \n
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. \n
- Understanding of child development and learning needs. \n
- Experience undertaking a welfare/lunchtime supervisory role, with responsibility for pupil welfare, behaviour and safeguarding during breaks. \n
- Ability to support pupils’ emotional regulation, wellbeing and inclusion throughout the school day. \n
Desirable
\n- \n
- Forest School experience and/or relevant outdoor learning qualifications. \n
- Experience supporting pupils in outdoor learning environments. \n
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent. \n
- First Aid qualification. \n
Main Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Provide targeted support for pupils with SEND, SEMH and ASD needs. \n
- Support pupils' learning, engagement and participation in class activities. \n
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing. \n
- Assist with the delivery of individual support plans and intervention programmes. \n
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCO and external professionals where required. \n
- Supervise and support pupils during lunchtime and break periods, ensuring their safety, welfare and positive social interaction. \n
- Support Forest School and outdoor learning activities where appropriate. \n
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress discussions. \n

- Adhere to all school safeguarding, child protection, behaviour and health and safety policies. \n
- Be responsible for reporting any safeguarding concerns immediately in accordance with school procedures. \n
- Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times. \n
- Participate in safeguarding training and updates as required. \n
