A thriving secondary school in Newham is looking to appoint a reliable and enthusiastic Food Technician to join their Design & Technology department from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in food preparation, catering, hospitality or a school setting who is looking to play a key role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning.

The Role\n

As a Food Technician, you will work closely with the Food Technology teachers to ensure practical lessons run smoothly. You will be responsible for preparing ingredients and equipment, maintaining a clean and safe learning environment, and supporting students during practical sessions where required.

Key Responsibilities\n

  • Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for Food Technology lessons.
  • \n
  • Ensure classrooms and kitchens are clean, organised and ready for practical activities.
  • \n
  • Monitor and manage stock levels, placing orders when required.
  • \n
  • Maintain food hygiene standards and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • \n
  • Clean, maintain and safely store kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • \n
  • Support teachers during practical lessons where appropriate.
  • \n
  • Carry out routine equipment checks and report any faults.
  • \n
  • Assist with displays, demonstrations and departmental events.
  • \n
The Ideal Candidate\n
    \n
  • Experience working in catering, hospitality, food preparation or a school environment.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety procedures.
  • \n
  • A Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable but not essential.
  • \n
  • Organised, reliable and able to work independently.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • \n
  • A proactive approach with strong attention to detail.
  • \n
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
