MB975: Works ManagerLocation: CumbriaSalary: £60,000 - £65,000Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per weekAdditional Company Benefits: Exceptional Career Development Opportunities, Company Car/Car Allowance (Depending on job grade), Pension matched up to 8%, 25 days annual leave – plus holiday (opportunity to buy/sell leave will be implemented from January 2026), Private medical insurance, Free 24/7 EAPOverview:First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic national construction business who are looking to recruit a Works Manager on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Cumbria depot.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take overall responsibility for the safe delivery and performance of site operations on major projects
  • \n
  • Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet programme and production targets
  • \n
  • Ensure all works are delivered in line with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • \n
  • Plan and manage materials, plant, and equipment across the site
  • \n
  • Carry out regular site inspections and ensure compliance with method statements and risk assessments
  • \n
  • Support project planning activities including work programmes and method statements
  • \n
  • Lead toolbox talks, task briefings, and promote safe systems of work
  • \n
  • Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and performance
  • \n
  • Collaborate with project teams to support delivery, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • \n
  • Support investigations and close out of incidents, near misses, and safety concerns
  • \n

Skills and Experience:

    \n
  • Proven experience in a Works Manager or similar role within civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, or major construction projects
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of site operations, project delivery, and construction methods
  • \n
  • SMSTS and CSCS certification
  • \n
  • Solid understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards
  • \n
  • Ability to lead teams and drive performance on site
  • \n
  • Experience working collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders
  • \n
