MB975: Works ManagerLocation: CumbriaSalary: £60,000 - £65,000Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per weekAdditional Company Benefits: Exceptional Career Development Opportunities, Company Car/Car Allowance (Depending on job grade), Pension matched up to 8%, 25 days annual leave – plus holiday (opportunity to buy/sell leave will be implemented from January 2026), Private medical insurance, Free 24/7 EAPOverview:First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic national construction business who are looking to recruit a Works Manager on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Cumbria depot.Duties and Responsibilities:

- Take overall responsibility for the safe delivery and performance of site operations on major projects \n
- Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet programme and production targets \n
- Ensure all works are delivered in line with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards \n
- Plan and manage materials, plant, and equipment across the site \n
- Carry out regular site inspections and ensure compliance with method statements and risk assessments \n
- Support project planning activities including work programmes and method statements \n
- Lead toolbox talks, task briefings, and promote safe systems of work \n
- Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and performance \n
- Collaborate with project teams to support delivery, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives \n
- Support investigations and close out of incidents, near misses, and safety concerns \n
Skills and Experience:

- Proven experience in a Works Manager or similar role within civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, or major construction projects \n
- Strong knowledge of site operations, project delivery, and construction methods \n
- SMSTS and CSCS certification \n
- Solid understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards \n
- Ability to lead teams and drive performance on site \n
- Experience working collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders \n
