Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Credit Controller to join a leading higher education institution in London. This role plays a vital part in supporting the finance function through effective sales ledger management, tuition fee collection, debt recovery, and stakeholder engagement, helping to ensure strong cash flow and outstanding customer service across the organisation.
\nKey Responsibilities:

- Manage day-to-day billing and debt recovery across multiple ledgers, ensuring accurate invoicing and timely collection of outstanding balances \n
- Maintain and manage the sales ledger, including account set-up, credit checks, and invoice distribution \n
- Proactively chase outstanding debt via phone, email, and written correspondence, maintaining clear audit trails \n
- Investigate and resolve non-payment queries, liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders to reach resolution \n
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies, ensuring accuracy across all records \n
- Support the management of complex funding streams, maintaining accurate data and updating records as required \n
- Assist with reporting on aged debt, highlighting risks and supporting decision-making across the finance team \n
- Monitor accounts to identify potential bad debt and escalate where appropriate \n
- Contribute to process improvements, ensuring compliance with internal policies and relevant regulations (e.g. data protection) \n
- Act as a key point of contact for finance queries, managing inboxes and responding promptly to stakeholders \n
- Provide support with wider finance processes, including reconciliations, reporting, and ad hoc duties as required \n
Ideal Candidate Profile:

- Previous experience in a Credit Control or Accounts Receivable role within a high-volume environment \n
- Strong understanding of debt recovery processes and sales ledger management \n
- Experience managing high-volume accounts and performing reconciliations \n
- Confident communicator with the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively \n
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills \n
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines \n
- Proficient in Excel and finance systems \n
- Proactive, solutions-focused, and able to identify process improvements \n
- Immediately available or available at short notice \n

\nWorking Pattern: Hybrid, 3 days on-site
\nHours: 35 hours per week
\nLength: 3 months, subject to further extension
