Setting Out Engineer – Civils / Groundworks Glasgow £30,000 – £35,000 + company van, instruments The Opportunity We are working with a growing and well-established civils & groundworks contractor who are looking to bring in a Setting Out Engineer to support the delivery of groundworks packages on large-scale building projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their engineering career, whether you’re stepping up from a junior role or already have some experience on site and want to progress further. The Role You’ll be working closely with experienced engineers and site teams, gaining hands-on experience across a range of groundworks packages. Key responsibilities will include: * Assisting with and carrying out setting out for groundworks and external works * Supporting site teams with daily engineering requirements * Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications * Carrying out as-built surveys and QA checks * Ensuring works are delivered in line with design and programme * Liaising with site management, subcontractors, and suppliers Project Scope * Foundations * Drainage and services * Roads, kerbing, and hard landscaping * External works packages on major construction developments What We’re Looking For * Some exposure to site engineering or setting out (placement, graduate, or junior role) * Relevant qualification (HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or similar preferred) * Eagerness to learn and develop within a fast-paced site environment * Good communication skills and a strong work ethic * Basic understanding of surveying equipment (training can be provided) What’s on Offer * Strong opportunity for career development and progression * Support from experienced engineers and management * Exposure to a variety of groundworks and infrastructure projects * Competitive salary and package
