Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Exeter Location: Exeter City Centre Job Type: Full-time (Part-time considered) Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Long-term opportunity with potential for permanent employment Salary: Competitive rates of pay HLTA Job in Exeter Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Exeter city centre to recruit a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a September start. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive school community where you will play a key role in raising attainment, supporting pupils across the primary age range, and delivering high-quality learning experiences. The school is looking for a confident HLTA who is comfortable leading whole-class learning, supporting intervention groups, and working closely with teachers to ensure every child reaches their potential. The Role As a HLTA, you will: Deliver planned lessons and cover classes in the absence of the teacher. Provide targeted intervention support to individuals and small groups. Support teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 where required. Help create an engaging, positive and inclusive learning environment. Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and school leaders. Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND where required. The Ideal Candidate To be successful in this role, you will have: HLTA status or significant experience working at HLTA level within a primary school. Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum. Experience delivering lessons and leading learning independently. Excellent communication and behaviour management skills. The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
