Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer Salary: £40k to £45k Based: Bradford Are you a talented Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys turning concepts into fully functioning machinery? We're looking for an experienced engineer to join a growing team designing cutting-edge food processing equipment from concept through to manufacture. What You'll Be Doing * Designing bespoke food manufacturing equipment using SolidWorks 3D CAD * Developing and testing prototypes to ensure performance, reliability and safety * Producing detailed engineering documentation including: - 2D Engineering Drawings - Assembly Drawings - Bills of Materials (BOMs) - Customer Procurement Drawings * Collaborating with Manufacturing, Fabrication, Operations and Project Management teams * Supporting production and resolving technical design challenges * Managing engineering changes and maintaining accurate documentation * Conducting design-to-cost calculations and technical analysis * Contributing to new product development and continuous improvement projects * Occasionally visiting customers to provide technical support, presentations and fault-finding assistance What We're Looking For (ESSENTIAL) * 5+ years' experience in Mechanical Design Engineering * Strong SolidWorks and CAD experience * Experience taking products from concept, prototype and testing through to manufacture * Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills * Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple departments * Competent user of Microsoft Office Desirable Experience * Food processing or food manufacturing machinery * Stainless steel fabrication * Conveyor systems * Motor drives and inverters * Design for Manufacture (DFM) * Cost estimation and value engineering You'll Thrive In This Role If You Have Experience In: * Special Purpose Machinery * Food Processing Equipment * Automation Systems * Industrial Machinery * Bespoke Mechanical Equipment Design Why Apply? - Work on innovative machinery projects from concept to production - Be involved in the full product development lifecycle - Collaborate with experienced engineering and manufacturing teams - Play a key role in developing new products and improving existing designs - See your designs become real-world solutions used by customers across the industry If you're passionate about mechanical design and enjoy creating practical engineering solutions that make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you
