SEN Teaching Assistant Location: South London Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-Time | Term-Time Only We are looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school. This is an exciting opportunity to support children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex learning needs in a nurturing, purpose-built environment where every pupil is supported to reach their full potential. About the School This specialist school supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), providing a highly structured and supportive learning environment tailored to each child's individual needs. The school delivers a personalised curriculum based around pupils' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), with a strong focus on developing communication, wellbeing, independence and achievement. Pupils also benefit from specialist therapeutic support, including Speech and Language Therapy (SALT), Occupational Therapy (OT) approaches and close multi-agency working. The school offers excellent facilities, including sensory rooms, adapted classrooms and practical life skills spaces, creating an environment where pupils feel safe, engaged and supported. The Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: * Support pupils with Autism and complex learning needs both in and out of the classroom * Work closely with teachers to deliver personalised learning linked to EHCP outcomes * Encourage communication, independence and emotional regulation * Use specialist approaches such as TEACCH, PECS, Makaton, Attention Autism and Team Teach (training provided where required) * Support pupils with sensory regulation and structured daily routines * Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to provide the best outcomes for every pupil * Help create a positive, calm and inclusive learning environment About You The ideal candidate will: * Have experience supporting children or young people with Autism, SEND or complex learning needs * Be patient, calm and confident working in a structured environment * Have a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs * Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents * Have excellent communication and teamwork skills * Hold an Enhanced Child and Adult Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one through Uniform Education What's on Offer * A welcoming and supportive leadership team * Ongoing training and development in specialist SEND approaches * The opportunity to work alongside experienced therapists and SEND professionals * Excellent purpose-built facilities designed to support pupils with Autism and complex needs * A rewarding role where you'll make a real difference to pupils' learning, independence and wellbeing every day
