Mechanical Design Engineer

You will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, gaining exposure to a wide variety of projects and clients. As a Building Services Engineer, you will be responsible for designing systems that enable buildings to perform efficiently, sustainably and safely.

• Work as part of a design team delivering detailed mechanical building services designs
\n
• Liaise closely with internal and external project teams, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors and contractors
\n
• Attend project group and technical meetings
\n
• Ensure designs comply with current legislation and health and safety requirements
\n
• Advise clients and design teams on energy use, sustainability and carbon reduction strategies
\n
• Design site-specific mechanical systems and equipment
\n
• Oversee and support the installation of building services systems
\n
• Specify maintenance and operational requirements for completed designs
\n
• Use industry-standard software such as CAD and BIM (Revit) to develop designs
\n
• Carry out condition surveys and produce technical reports with recommendations
\n

What you'll need to succeed

\n
• An accredited degree (or higher qualification) in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
\n
• Proven experience in a similar Mechanical Design role
\n
• Ideally, working towards Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional institution
\n
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to clients and project teams
\n
• A proactive and organised approach, with strong attention to detail
\n
• Ambition and a willingness to learn and develop
\n
• Experience with industry-standard software such as IES, Hevacomp, AutoCAD and Revit would be beneficial.
