We are seeking a Head of Year to join our team, starting in September 2026. This role is pivotal in leading one of the Academy's year teams, ensuring that each student receives the necessary pastoral support to thrive in their educational journey.

Day-to-day of the role:

\n
    \n
  • Lead and manage a year team consisting of 5 form tutors and co-tutors, overseeing approximately 150 students.
  • \n
  • Monitor and enhance pupil attendance and punctuality within your allocated year group.
  • \n
  • Drive improvements in pupil performance across various key performance indicators including progress, achievement, and behaviour.
  • \n
  • Celebrate student achievements and maintain a positive educational environment.
  • \n
  • Update and manage the year group's Self-Evaluation Form (SEF) to ensure continuous improvement.
  • \n
  • Promote and ensure the safety and wellbeing of students, adhering to safeguarding protocols.
  • \n
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents, students, and external agencies.
  • \n
  • Manage and support the pastoral curriculum, including leading year assemblies and daily reflections.
  • \n

Required Skills & Qualifications:

\n

  • Proven leadership experience in an educational setting, ideally as a Head of Year or in a similar role.
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of the pastoral needs of students and effective strategies for addressing these.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • \n
  • Commitment to upholding the Academy's values and policies, including those related to behaviour, uniform, and bullying.
  • \n
  • Ability to liaise effectively with external agencies and manage complex student cases.
  • \n
  • Trained in a teaching subject with the ability to teach mainstream classes, with a reduced timetable to manage Head of Year responsibilities.
