Caretaker

The Supply Register is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming school in Plymouth for an experienced School Caretaker.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous caretaking, premises or site management experience to join a supportive school environment. The role is initially temporary, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

• Opening and/or locking the school site as required.
\n
• Carrying out routine maintenance of the school buildings and grounds.
\n
• Undertaking minor repairs, including changing light bulbs, basic plumbing, painting, decorating and general DIY.
\n
• Maintaining the school grounds, ensuring they remain safe, clean and presentable.
\n
• Emptying bins, litter picking and assisting with general cleaning duties where required.
\n
• Moving furniture, equipment and deliveries around the school.
\n
• Monitoring stock levels of cleaning and site supplies.
\n
• Liaising with and overseeing contractors working on site.
\n
• Carrying out routine site inspections and reporting any maintenance issues.
\n
• Supporting the school in maintaining high standards of health, safety and security.
\n
• Working in line with safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.
\n

• Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant or Site Manager is desirable.
\n
• School-based experience is advantageous but not essential.
\n
• Practical DIY and maintenance skills.
\n
• A proactive and reliable approach to work.
\n
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
\n
• Two satisfactory references covering the last two years of employment.
\n
• Right to work in the UK.
\n
