\nAbout the Role
\nReed Education is recruiting on behalf of a specialist sen secondary educational setting for a dedicated and knowledgeable Science Teaching Assistant to join their team.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a strong understanding of GCSE Science who is passionate about supporting young people to engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve academic success.
\nThe successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them access the Science curriculum and make progress towards their GCSE qualifications.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Support students during Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. \n
- Provide targeted support to students studying GCSE Science. \n
- Deliver small-group and 1:1 interventions to raise attainment. \n
- Assist with practical experiments and classroom preparation. \n
- Support students with a range of educational needs, including SEND and SEMH. \n
- Encourage positive engagement, participation and attendance. \n
- Work closely with teachers to monitor pupil progress and identify learning gaps. \n
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe learning environment. \n
- Support students in developing confidence, independence and resilience. \n
Essential Requirements
\nStrong knowledge and understanding of GCSE Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics)
\nAbility to confidently support students with GCSE-level Science content
\nExperience working with secondary-aged students
\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills
\nStrong behaviour management skills
\nAbility to motivate and engage young people
\nCommitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
\nDesirable
\n- \n
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Cover Supervisor or Tutor. \n
- Experience working with students with SEND, SEMH or within alternative provision settings. \n
- A Science-related qualification. \n
- Experience delivering interventions that improve student outcomes. \n
