\nWe are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex learning difficulties, autism, non-verbal communication needs, and behaviours that challenge within a specialist educational setting.
\nThis is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with vulnerable young people, helping them develop independence, communication skills, and confidence in a safe and nurturing environment.
\nThe Role:

- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of complex SEND requirements. \n
- Work with students who are non-verbal and utilise alternative communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, visual timetables, and communication aids. \n
- Support pupils with challenging behaviour, using positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques. \n
- Assist with personal care where required. \n
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver tailored support plans. \n
- Promote a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. \n
The Ideal Candidate:
\n- \n
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). \n
- Experienced working with non-verbal individuals and implementing communication strategies. \n
- Confident managing behaviours that challenge in a calm, patient, and consistent manner. \n
- Resilient, empathetic, and committed to achieving positive outcomes for young people. \n
- Experience within a specialist school, SEND provision, care setting, or similar environment is highly desirable. \n
- Team Teach, MAPA, or other positive behaviour management training would be advantageous. \n
